Food & Wine Pairing – Beating the Summer Heat

July 21st, 2017

With the mercury through the roof in many parts of the country, it’s time to take a look at food and wine pairings to beat the heat. Here are two options, one for white and one for red. [level-members]

White is of course the more traditional choice and, I must admit, easier to pair with lighter foods than reds. But that’s in general terms. Plenty of lighter reds work wonderfully with lighter foods of summer, especially if you chill them a bit. We’ll typically serve younger reds right from the cellar in the summer.

So starting with the reds, you can do worse than pairing a Sangiovese with a Caprese Salad.

Too hot to even consider cooking? Order in sushi and crack open the Sauvignon Blanc.

But wait, there’s more: a bonus rosé pairing! Caesar salad wraps that you can pair with the rosé of your choice depending on how toothsome a protein (if any) you select.

Whichever direction you go – embracing the heat or avoiding it – enjoy your weekend.
