Food & Wine Pairing – Winter Weekend Lunch

January 19th, 2018

When it comes to food and wine pairing – and food in general – in the heart of a winter cold snap, we think almost automatically of heavy foods and big reds. But there are other options. [level-members]

Especially if you’re still sticking to a clean-eating New Year’s resolution, something other than beef stew is probably on your horizon. And while that’s still tempting for dinner, we can definitely do better for lunch.

Like, for example, this “Grown-Up Grilled Cheese & Apple-Leek Soup” from the folks at Clean Cuisine.

Their pairing recommendation of Beaujolais may not be to everyone’s liking, but it’s not a bad place to start. Other light reds can work as well.

If we were enjoying this outside in the summer, there are any number of whites that would be tempting, but a lighter, fruitier red is definitely the right call for a winter weekend lunch.
