Prosecco going from strength to strength, looming USDA cuts, property purchase in California with potential long-term implications, and weed and wine.[level-members]

Prosecco DOC is ramping up their marketing presence in the US, which is already their 2nd largest market. (And a market that has already seen 20% growth since 2013.

Are the Trump administration’s plans for the USDA bad news for the wine industry? A proposed discretionary-spending reduction of 21% would seem to indicate yes.

The wine industry in California is huge, but not so huge that decisions by one of its larger players can’t shake things up. So seems to be the case with Gallo’s purchase of Stagecoach Vineyards. Does this move have “implications for the very structure of the wine industry?

Wine and weed have been happily co-existing for quite some time. (Though that doesn’t mean weed coming out of the shadows won’t continue to have an outsize impact on the wine industry in California.)
