Wine Retail Industry News – Wine Spectator’s Top Wines of 2013

Wine Spectator has announced it’s 2013 Wine of the Year, and somewhat shockingly, it’s not what we would consider one of the usual suspects. [level-members]

Number one on Wine Spectator’s list this year is the 2004 Cune Rioja Imperial Gran Reserva. Even more shocking than a WS top pick hailing from somewhere other than California, France or Italy is the price: an almost-affordable $63.

Granted, you’ll never find it since only 4,000 cases were produced. No word on how many made it to the US.

Rounding out the top ten were reds from Bordeaux, Oregon, California, Italy, 2 Chateauneufs, and a white from California:
