We jump across the pond for a UK-side view of wines from the upper left corner of the US. [level-members]

On the Harpers UK website we get a look at the English market’s view of wines from Washington State. Matthew Gaughan attended Taste Washington’s 18th annual event. He notes that harvests are up with particular interest in new plantings on the highest of the high-end AVAs. (Notably, the Red Mountain AVA.)

Though great progress has been made since Washington’s earliest days as a wine-growing region, there is still work to be done, particularly in how Washington’s wines are marketed globally. No surprise that they simply do not have the profile or cachet of their neighbors to the south in California.
