It’s almost time for the the most romantic / most dreaded day of the year. (OK, tax day wins “most dreaded” by a mile …) Here’s a menu suggestion with wines to accompany. [lvel-members]
First, your customers should know that they can ignore the calendar and make a big do of the Friday or Saturday night before Valentine’s Day, and keep things simpler – not to mention less expensive and more romantic – by staying in on V Day itself.
Then, suggest a multi-course meal that hits all of the romantic culinary high points: oysters, lamb, and chocolate.
You can start with oysters of course, which pair nicely with Chablis or Champagne
For a main course, grilled meat can be a popular choice, assuming your sweetie is not a vegetarian. Here’s a favorite from Bon Appetit: Grilled Yogurt-Marinated Leg of Lamb. (You can find a wider range of lamb dishes on the site, as well. For wines, Carmenere is a great choice.
And to finish things off, chocolate fondue and Banyuls make a great end to any romantic evening. Here are two recipe options: Food Network’s version and one from Ghirardelli. [/level-members]
