When someone says “it’s not just white” that you can pair well with chicken, we’ll forgive even a beer recommendation. [level-members]
Not that the recommendation is bad, but it’s not really our brand …
Tasting Table’s article, What to Drink with Chicken, offers some great ideas you can share with your wine shop audience. The article gets at the idea, boring to Grapeseed readers, that food and wine pairing ain’t about the protein. So IPAs make sense for spicy chicken dishes. And full-bodied reds can be wonderful with chicken dishes that are a bit heartier. (Think barbecued or roasted.)
Their list goes on, and includes some matches we know and love – Champagne and other sparklers – and some that have me scratching my head. I can’t think of a chicken dish we’ve cooked that would pair well with whiskey of any kind.
“Your mileage may vary,” as they say, but there certainly enough good suggestions to keep even your most adventurous fans interested. [/level-member]
