Wine Industry News – August 28, 2017

August 28th, 2017

Extreme weather and other issues in French wine regions. There’s a potential silver lining, at least, which may not be true in Italy. Wine may or may not stave off dementia. And Napa vineyard worker housing can’t keep up with demand. [level-members]

As expected, the extreme weather they’ve experienced in France will cut 2017 production significantly – as in nearly 20% lower than last year. On the plus side, the hot summer should mean the wine that is produced should be top quality.

That’s not the only thing that’s got them up in arms in France.

And next store, in Italy, the heat (and drought) is not going to be the winemakers’ friend.

Wine is or is not a benefit in staving off dementia.

Old news at this point, but too cool not to include: Champagne Jayne finally prevails.

Nice that Napa vineyards are building worker housing. Bummer that they can’t keep up with demand.
