The Power of Top Ten Lists

Who is the sexiest man alive and what does he have to do with your wine shop? [level-members]

Nothing, probably, other than the fact that everyone loves a list – even if, or precisely because, it’s impossible to get everyone to agree to a Top 10 of anything. 

So it can be a powerful marketing tool to create your own Top 10 (or 20 or 100 or 2, for that matter) and encourage your audience to weigh in on whether they think you’re right, wrong, or completely nuts. 

It’s also a marketing opportunity on another level. Chances are you don’t stock 10 of too many things, so you might think, I can’t create a list and then not stock the stuff. But you can – and you can point out that you stock only numbers 1, 3, 4, 6, and 8 because they represent the best values for this kind of wine. 

You get to market the wines you’re selling, as well as your own expertise in selecting only the best  available options for your wine shop customers.
