Retail Wine Industry News – More Bad Weather in France Will Affect Wine Pricing

With Burgundy still reeling from its own weather-related adversity, Bordeaux now has to contend with a disastrous hailstorm. [level-members]

A 10-minute hailstorm struck Bordeaux affecting approximately 50,000 acres of vineyards. Some vineyards have been left without any crop to speak of.

Wine production for the next two years will be affected. Prices certainly can be expected to rise, but more important are the long-term affects: the setback may prove fatal for at least some vineyards and wineries in the region.
