Food & Wine Pairings: White Wines for Winter Foods

February 14th, 2014

If you’re living anywhere from Atlanta to New York right now, you’re buried – again – underneath a sizable “snow event.” It’s been a tough winter, even in places that don’t usually do “tough” on the short-day side of the calendar. Here are some ideas for customers who may be in the mood for a little white wine, even though the calendar isn’t cooperating.[level-members]

The fine folks at Wine Enthusiast offer these winter white pairing ideas, complete with recipes:

  • Lobster Bisque with Chardonnay
  • Mac & Cheese with Truffle Oil and Sauvignon Blanc
  • Pork Loin Roast with Fig Jam and a Viognier

A few other ideas they offer, sans recipes:

  • Chardonnay and grilled cheese
  • California Marssanne and beef stew
  • Sauvignon Blanc with Chili
  • Semillon with meat loaf

Grilled cheese and white wine sure beats shoveling …
