Even better news for retailers and the South African wine industry is that the growth is primarily on the higher end, in the $10 to $20 range. Johann Meissenheimer of the Indigo Wine Group says, “It’s safe to expect 10%-15% growth for the category the next five to 10 years.”
The reds in particular have long had a presence on our table, so we’re glad to see others discovering them. Brands that may benefit the most include Mulderbosch, Rustenberg, Groot Constantia, Fairview and Goats Do Roam.
