Pizza Wine – Again?

September 30th, 2016

Yes, we’ve covered this ground before. But never this ground in Moldova! [level-members]

And I have to admit to never having tried these wines but there’s so much right about just the idea, that we had to write about it.

What’s right is that it’s fun, it’s easy, it’s unexpected. Think many of your regulars have tried – or even heard of – rara neagra. Here’s a Palate Press article with the details.

Obviously, it’s tough to recommend this as a food and wine pairing if you can’t get it or choose not to stock it, but the idea still applies: find something unexpected and help your customers explore their love of wine. Do it with something fun and easy like take-out food makes it that much easier to bring a smile to someone’s face.

And it doesn’t happen to be pizza. That’s just our Friday night and nobody feels like cooking standby. It’s also pretty easy to get pretty decent pizza take-out just about everywhere. But if your local market has killer take-out food of another variety – or the local pizza is just sub-par – find interesting pairings for Thai, Indian, Mexican or whatever works in your neck of the woods.
