Lots of different cultures you can call on and regional differences even within those cultures, but we love meat pies with a little spice and a lot of flavor. A big, bold Shiraz is probably your best pairing bet, though you can adjust your recommendations if you prefer a different take than the below on from the Food Network. (We have a Jamaican version we love from a bread cookbook with an excellent homemade dough. Give a shout and we’ll share it.)
