Food & Wine Pairing: Grilled Lamb

March 30th, 2018

As with any other pairing, matching wine well with lamb really isn’t about the protein, it’s about the prep. [level-members]

With Easter upon us, and spring finally springing around the northeast, we can think about firing up the grill and tossing some lamb on the fire. There are a lot of different red wines that will work with lamb, but the best match is made by looking at how you’re preparing the meat. In the case of our recommended recipe this week, Lamb and Porcini Kebabs, the dish has some heat, so you’ll want a fruit-forward wine to stand up to it.

We’ll leave the specific of that recommendation to you and what you stock in your shop, but a Chilean cabernet or Australian Shiraz, or American wines in those styles, are an excellent starting point.

Oh, and don’t think we’ve forgotten about those of you with wine shop customers who may be celebrating Passover. Here’s an excellent idea, especially for basketball fans: Amare Stoudemire Kosher Wines.
