China’s Capital Controls Affecting Wine Prices
Monetary policy in China is causing an increase in fine wine prices as wealthy Chinese citizens try to turn cash into tangible assets. New policies are making it difficult to take capital out of the country, so Chinese investors are seeking alternatives, which has pushed pricing to the highest levels seen in the past 5 years, as measured by the Liv-ex 100 Fine Wine Index.
