How about a great pizza pairing?
Not exactly adventurous, I know, some weeks call for a no-muss, no-fuss Friday night transition into the weekend. (Or a Sunday night transition back into the work week.) And it’s tough to beat Barbera. [level-members]
As with many varietals, Barbera-based wines have changed over the years. What used to be the undisputed “acid king of Italy” (for better or worse), is now also made into new-world style wines.
Depending on which side of that fence you fall on, you’re either overjoyed or disheartened on a personal level. But as a wine seller, it’s definitely a time for joy, since you can find a Barbera to fit either preference, and you can do so at reasonable prices.
From Italy, producers like Coppo , La Casaccia Giuanin and Bersano are good choices. From the new world, Kramer Vineyards, Cardella, and McManis Family Vineyards are worth seeking out.
Enjoy that pie! And a quiet night on the couch. [/level-members]
