What Your Wine Shop Customers Are Reading: NYTimes on the Loire and WS’s Wine App

January 16th, 2014

This week we received yet another come-on for Wine Spectator’s mobile app and a great piece on reds of the Loire. [level-members]

I’m sure some of you would prefer we did a little less with The New York Times. I know there are other publications out there – and we’d welcome your input on unsung gems – but the Times is widely read and remember, our goal here is to give you a leg up on knowing what your customers might be thinking without having to read everything under the sun yourself.

And, of course, if you’ve paid any attention at all, you know I’m a bit of a nut for reds from the Loire. So I was pretty mixed in my emotions when I saw this piece on Loire reds in the Times this week. It’s bad news when the Times discovers something you’ve had to yourself (mostly) for a long time.

Still, I hope you’ll read the piece and consider stocking more Loire reds. You’ll make your regulars happy with both their high quality and their relatively low prices.

I also found yet another come-on from Wine Spectator to try their mobile app. I’ll leave it to you to decide whether that’s a worthwhile investment on your part – the $2.99 / month fee seems to turn off a lot of consumers – but WS does have an enormously large reach. [/level-members]
