Food & Wine Pairings: Wine-Based Drinks

December 11th, 2015

OK, so we’re not really pairing food and wine this week, but with holiday-party season upon us, the time seemed appropriate to look at a few wine-based drinks that can please a crowd. [level-members]

Mulled Wine
Great winter drink, and a classic. Here’s a slightly different take: Honey-Pomegranate Mulled Wine.

Sangria
Another classic, we’re sticking with the tried-and-true on this one: Sangria-Sangria from All Recipes.

White Wine Spritzer
If you’re not in the mood for red, there’s always the spritzer. Much maligned, but worth another look when done well. Riesling or Pinot Grigio are excellent choices. Pour 4 or 5 ounces into a glass, top with club soda and add a lime wedge or orange peel garnish.

Bellini
More bubbles! Prosecco topped off with citrus juice. Peaches are traditional add-in, but you can go with just about any fruit you can find this time of year.

 Enjoy that party!
