The old “correlation is not causation” problem: it may not be the case that a glass of wine with dinner each night is good for your health, but that people who are able to have a glass of wine with dinner each night are a healthier group than the general population. A bummer for sure, but we’ll stick with our “medicinal” beverage regimen.

And if you’re going to be drinking wine even though it’s not a miracle cure, at least be sure you’re drinking the real thing. This CBS News piece shows the efforts being made to stamp out counterfeit wine.

I seem to be in the minority, as I favor twisting it off with my hands, though that can be a challenge on older bottles where the capsule may be adhered to the bottle.
